A Clean Sky event in Castilla y Leon region

On 26 March 2019, an Info Day was organised in Valladolid, Castilla Y León, by the Regional Authorities, the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla Y León (ICE) and the Centro Tecnológico de Miranda de Ebro (CTME).

It was an event in the context of the MoU that was signed in 2017. The welcome address of this event was provided by Beatriz Casado Sáenz, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department of the Castilla Y León, who stressed the efforts made by the regional authorities to support the aeronautical sector in the region. She highlighted the MoU that has been signed with Clean Sky JU and the current activities taken by the region towards the successful and effective implementation of this bilateral agreement. In this context, the regional call published in May 2018was highlighted. The call aims to support companies, also from the aeronautical sector (which is a RIS3 priority of Castilla y León Region). The companies can submit proposals related to the Clean Sky 2 JU programme and/or proposals that have been awarded the ‘Clean Sky Synergy Label’.

The dedicated and successful role of ICE, in the aerospace sector, was also presented by José Francisco Diego Calvo, the Territorial Director of Salamanca. He mentioned that after the signing of the MoU with Clean Sky, the region set up an Aviation Regional Working Group. This WG is aimed at supporting the priorities in aeronautics that are included in RIS3 and are related to the Clean Sky programme. In the context of this current regional call and the related SINGULAR projects, the local stakeholders have been supported in activities related to Clean Sky objectives. This support will also provide stakeholders with the required experience to further participate in Clean Sky calls.

The Info Day was attended by more than 50 stakeholders from academia, research, industry, SMEs, and regional institutions.

Clean Sky 2 was represented by Ron Van Manen (Programme Manager) and Christos Vasilakos(Policy Officer), who presented the programme and the different technical and administrative aspects, as well as the challenges for a closer cooperation with Clean Sky and the synergies within the new framework programme ‘Horizon Europe’. An overview of the 10th Call for Proposals (CfP10) which will open in May 2019 was also presented, followed by a technical session with presentations dedicated to four areas: Large Passenger Aircraft IADP, Airframe ITD, Systems ITD and Fast Rotorcraft IADP. These technical sessions were also supported by some Clean Sky 2 leaders, such as Airbus D&S and Airbus Helicopters.

The second day of this event consisted of technical sessions the Clean Sky Core Partner (ACITURRI) and Partners (FUNDACIÓN CIDAUT, CIDETEC and CTME) provided their experiences regarding their participation in Clean Sky projects.
